Enlightened Leadership:  Foundation of an Extraordinary Workplace Culture
New Article in Washington Healthcare News
    Â
The holidays are here and I would like to wish you all a warm and joyful season.  I would also like to invite you to read a just published article in Washington Healthcare News on Enlightened Healthcare Leadership. Even if you are not in the healthcare industry, these five essential steps to enlightened leadership are relevant for all businesses and organizations. Great leaders throughout time have operated from authenticity and strength of character rather than egos being driven by the need for power and validation.
Unknown to most people, authentic leadership is not defined by an organizational chart. Leaders emerge from all levels within an organization and a title does not guarantee leadership qualities or abilities. Great leaders make a critical difference in the workplace culture by replacing fear with trust and compassion. Teamwork, innovation, productivity, and efficiency emerge and thrive in a trusting atmosphere. Â Nothing is as powerful or leads to greater success than people working together.

Year of Change
Many of you have reported this to be a year of great changes, both at work and at home. For me, personally, this year has had sadness and joy. My mother died, unexpectedly, but peacefully, just a year ago. But in the wake of our loss, my daughter and son-in-law announced their first pregnancy. Last month, to all our excitement,  she delivered twins–a boy and a girl. I have now joined the ranks of millions of proud grandmas–two at a time. So the circle of life continues in our family and although my family members and I experienced the deep sadness of my mother’s death, we all now share in the happy arrival of the twins.
