Never before has there been so much conflict and fear in the world, the workplace, and society as a whole. With so many platforms and media sites, we are constantly bombarded with unwanted and worrisome messages. You are not alone if you feel overwhelmed and exhausted at times.
Although we often feel we should do something, I suggest we first calm our minds and return ourselves to the present moment. As we slow down and breathe, we will literally feel the tension start to release and our physical sensations ease into calmness. Authentic power cannot be found in fear and anxiety. As we uncrowd our thoughts through mindfulness and meditation, we can respond with inspiration and strength, rather than reacting in defensive and fearful ways. Stemming from Universal Love and the present moment, the outcome of our actions will be completely different than reactions coming from a fearful ego.
Some people tell me they cannot meditate. If you start with short periods of time (five or 10 minutes a day) with your attention focused on your breath, you can gradually learn to watch your thoughts and let them slow down without a lot of resistance. As you practice each day, it gets easier and the results will be self-evident. You will feel increasingly empowered, calm, and inspired to live each day as it unfolds, rather than worrying about the future based on scenarios from the past. The science of neuroplasticity now explains that meditation actually changes the neural pathways in the brain. Practices from ancient religions and philosophies now have been verified by science.
I invite you to watch my video on trusting in the unknown where I share a story of amazing synchronicity when I let go and trusted in the unknown. My experience reinforced that when you give up fear and efforts to control everything, new coincidental events, people, and things can come into your life–things you couldn’t have imagined or predicted. When we face each day with trust in the unknown, we connect with our own deep, authentic power and our interconnection with all of life. Through presence we are open to the opportunity for miracles to show up in our lives.
