As an author and speaker committed to illuminating the workplace so that ego dramas can be revealed, I would like to share tips and ideas that can clarify the confusion. When you are engaged in the workplace, it is often hard to discern what is actually happening.
Unfortunately, most workplaces are comprised of a web of egos fighting and competing for power, managers who dis-empower employees, and co-workers who hurt and sabotage one another. There are personal agendas, gossip, insecurity and most of all, fear. This dissension is exhasting and drains the energy of all the people involved. In many cases, the workplace “stage” is like an emotional combat zone, a literal warzone of pain and suffering, though it is often couched in words that sound like team building, loyalty and work excellence.
My audiences around the country confirm that this indeed it true. How many of you would agree with that assessment? In my future blogs I will address the various issues and what we can do to heal the workplace and replace fear with trust and compassion.
I believe this is a necessary movement, because stressed out and emotionally depleted people go home at night to their families. So in essence, the workplace problem actually impacts the fabric of our American way of life–families!
