Happy Thanksgiving
These have been a strange and unsettling times for most of us, and it is easy to focus on the negative news, political drama, and the economy. So, finding the beauty and blessings we actually already have is a path out of uncertainty and confusion. I have found gratitude to be an amazing connection to my inner self, my highest self, and I am uplifted when I recognize all the gifts in my life. It is the quickest path to alignment with my soul.
Thanksgiving is a time when we are collectively expressing gratitude and sharing it with our loved ones. Many of us our spending holidays with families again this year, after over a year and half of Covid. Some suggestions for making the most of your family time together:
- Be a blessing to those you are spending the day with by your intention to be so. See the light and spirit in the eyes of others.
- Value each and every person for something. Try to express your appreciation and lift other’s spirits.
- Don’t get triggered into old family dynamics, rivalries, etc. If you feel a hook, pause, and reframe the situation. Take a breath and don’t react. Gently change the subject.
- Be present and listen to others. Most people just want to be heard.
- Give up the need to be right, the smartest, the best, and instead, focus on enhancing others.
- Share humor and laughter. Laughter is always the best medicine.
- Enjoy the food, the camaraderie, and the warmth of being with loved ones.
- Steer clear of any controversy or politics. Don’t ruin a holiday.
- Be grateful for the meal, the people, and the opportunity to be together this year.
- Know that when we feel gratitude in our hearts, it leads to more blessings in our lives.
Acknowledging the good you already have in your life is the foundation for all abundance.
