Thanksgiving is a day to acknowledge, that in spite of all the circumstances in the world, we have much for which to be grateful. I believe if we start each day with the right frame of mind, we create a day that is filled with opportunities, insights, joy and freedom. I take a few minutes each morning with this simple acronym. I call it “The GIVE Principle”—GIVE to yourself and GIVE to others:
Gratitude
Mentally, list at least three things for which you are grateful. If you can think of three, you will often find several more. Relish the feeling that life is a gift –feel it deeply in your soul.
Invoke
Call on your inner spirit, your deep self, God, your soul, or whatever empowers you to be more than your simple egoic version of yourself. Sit up straight and hold that power in your being and know that you can count on it throughout the day.
Vow
Vow that you will hold this core strength throughout your day and not allow occurrences to shake your resolve and courage to face each challenge. Problems that arise are simply disguised opportunities to awaken to your full self, your deepest self.
Ring the bells (ring the bells) that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack in everything (there is a crack in everything)
That’s how the light gets in.
–Leonard Cohen
Emanate
Radiate your positive energy to everyone you meet and uplift those around you may not have your understanding that joy comes from within. Your positive energy is contagious. John Goleman, author of Emotional Intelligence describes a bus driver who is a contagious angel who talks to and brightens the day of everyone who gets on and off the bus.  Be that angel in the midst of the people you see TODAY.
“All growth spreads outward from a fertile and potent nucleus. You are a nucleus.â€
